Interfaces entre Phases Condensées et Transport (InPaCT)

La recherche de l’équipe se développe en amont de problèmes technologiques tels que la filtration d’effluents, le stockage de l’énergie électrique, la bio-séparation ou encore les techniques de nettoyage à faibles volumes d’effluents. Ces thématiques sont des axes de recherche fondamentale forts dont le potentiel d’applications (notamment dans les domaines de l’environnement et de l’énergie) est résolument orienté vers les enjeux industriels et sociétaux de demain. L’équipe est reconnue au niveau national et international pour ses compétences en caractérisation des matériaux poreux, pulvérulents ou encore pour l’étude des phénomènes d’adsorption et des systèmes dispersés. Elle organise chaque année, conjointement avec l’équipe S2G, un stage CNRS-Formation Entreprise et a développé des expériences uniques qui ont fait école.

 

Expertises

L’équipe est composée de spécialistes de synthèse, de thermodynamique, d’électrochimie, de simulation/modélisation. Ces champs de compétences recouvrent un large spectre des problèmes soulevés par la matière divisée et les interfaces. Son activité s’appuie simultanément sur la physique et la chimie.

Les matériaux divisés trouvent des applications dans des domaines aussi variés que la purification des fluides, la formulation, les bétons, les membranes et les capteurs. Ces applications recouvrent des phénomènes complexes dont la compréhension ne peut être abordée d’un point de vue fondamental que par une approche pluri-disciplinaire basée sur :

  • Des compétences en élaboration, notamment dans notre équipe, par une approche originale de synthèse hydrothermale supercritique

  • Des compétences en caractérisation des paramètres structuraux de la matière divisée (pour laquelle l’équipe a une expertise reconnue)

  • Des compétences en thermodynamique de l’adsorption et des phénomènes interfaciaux (héritage de l’école de « thermodynamique Marseillaise »)

  • Des compétences dans le domaine de la cinétique de transport de charge et de matière

  • Des compétences en modélisation atomistique des phénomènes d’équilibre aux interfaces et en simulation des phénomènes de transport de charges et de matière. L’axe commun de l’équipe se fonde sur des outils et des descripteurs semblables pour l’étude des phénomènes physico-chimiques spécifiques de chaque application, en fonction de paramètres qui peuvent être structuraux (taille et distribution, topologie), thermodynamiques (isotherme adsorption, mouillage, solubilité) et cinétiques (migration, diffusion, convection, tortuosité).

National and international projects

  • L'équipe Inpact à développé de nombreuses collaborations académiques dans le domaine de la santé (INSERM), de l’environnement (BRGM, CEA) ou encore de l’énergie (CEA, Réseau National sur le stockage). Elle est composée de 10 enseignants-chercheurs (2 PR, 8 MCF), 2 chercheurs (1 DR, 1 CR) et un enseignant-chercheur émérite (PR). Sur la période 2012-2016, l’équipe a publié 75 articles avec un facteur d’impact moyen d'environ 4, a contribué à 2 brevets et a présenté de nombreuses conférences invitées. Ses recherches sont effectuées dans le cadre de projets nationaux académiques (ANR, Prédit, GDR), industriels (CEA, IFP, BATSCAP, ARKEMA, CNES) et également européens (MACADAMIA, ESA).
